










R. Marc Nay, DVM
and Tico
Dr. Marc Nay graduated Auburn University with a bachelors in Biology in 1984 and from the Auburn School of Veterinary Medicine in 1988, but he has been around veterinary medicine all of his life. His father owns and has operated Crater Road Animal Hospital since the 1960’s in Petersburg, VA.
Dr. Nay is well known for his friendly, compassionate nature in addition to his vast knowledge and experience as a veterinarian. In addition to routine animal wellness care, he is particularly skilled in surgery, including laser surgery and orthopedics.
In 2000, Dr. Nay built Deer Run Animal Wellness Center with the goal of offering the very best veterinary care available in a clean, state of the art, new facility. The aesthetically pleasing facility that he created is enhanced by the friendly, knowledgeable staff.
In his free time, Dr. Nay enjoys golfing and fishing and spending time with his wife, Jennifer and their two children Brock, and Olivia.
Julie Bergeron, DVM
and Hannah
Dr. Julie Bergeron graduated from the Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine in 1992. Dr. Bergeron was raised in Richmond and returned to the area after graduation to practice Veterinary Medicine. She resides on a small farm with her horses, goat, chicken, cats, and two dogs, Kirra and Hannah.
She enjoys spending her free time with her family, gardening, horseback riding, and doing endless farm projects.
Amy Young, DVM
Dr. Amy Young joined the Deer Run Family in February 2008. She is an Auburn University graduate in 1994 with a Bachelors in Animal Science and DVM degree.
Dr. Young grew up in Alabama on a family farm. She and her family moved to Chesterfield in December 2007 with her husband, Chris, and three children, Eli, Becca, and Olivia, who keep her very busy. Her husband Chris is also a Veterinarian who is with the U.S.D.A.
Dr. Young enjoys all aspects of Veterinary Medicine and looks forward to meeting each of your family members.
Lisa Banks, DVM
Dr. Lisa Banks grew up in Buffalo, NY. She graduated from Midwestern State University in Texas with a degree in biology and chemisty in 1988. In 1992 Dr. Banks graduated from Texas A & M College of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Banks is a consulting veterinarian with Hill’s Pet Nutrition, Inc., and works with Deer Run part-time. She resides in Powhatan with her husband, Les, two cats, Linus and Clarice, four dogs, Chloe, Cosmo, Maisy, and Oscar, and three horses Ruby, Mathew, and Julie (the brat).













Kimberly has been a member of the staff since January 2008. Although this is her first experience in a veterinary office, she has learned quickly and is very knowledgeable. Kim is full of energy and can’t wait to help the next patient and client to walk through the door! Kimberly lives in Midlothian with her husband, Wayne, their daughter Jessica, and their 3 dogs Coco, Bingo and Bandit.
Leah has been in the veterinary field for over 6 years and has been with the Deer Run team for 3 years. She is very passionate and educated about animal behavior. Leah’s dog Abner sparked her interest in behavioral issue and aspires to pursue a career as a dog behaviorist. Leah lives in Chesterfield with her husband Ricky and 3 dogs; Abner, Jerry and Gus.
Pattie enjoyed being a Deer Run client so much she enthusiastically accepted a job here in 2007. She loves meeting other animal lovers and their pets in her position as a receptionist. When not at the front desk Pattie can often be found in the surgical suite observing. Pattie shares a home with her husband Frank and their two adopted dogs Sammy and Nubbin. Her free time away from the clinic is devoted to reading and running. She is a frequent competitor in local races.
Anya has been part of the Deer Run family for five years. Her managerial style is creative and motivating for the rest of the staff! She received a Bachelor’s of Science Degree from Virginia Tech in 2002, with a major in Wildlife Science and a minor in Biology. Her favorite part of the job is phlebotomy and working in the lab, but a good cuddle with a furry friend can never be passed up, especially a Boxer! Anya’s devotion shows true with her twice daily commute from Powhatan; where she lives with her loving husband John, two children Colton and Rilynn, Havoc the husky, and Logan Thomas the infamous three legged boxer.
Becky is the resident mom! If you need a bowl of soup or a band-aid, Becky is the one you can count on! Her warm heart and compassion for all things great and small makes her a beloved member of our team. She resides in Deer Run, a stones throw from the clinic, along with her husband Gene, daughter Emma, son Hayden, her mother Dottie, 3 cats (Piper, Eva, and Bart) and new furry canine addition Miss Rosebud! Becky has been involved in all aspects of the medical field for many years, but has found a comfort and a home here at Deer Run.
Joanna recently joined our staff in September 2008. She is currently completing her senior year at Cosby High School. Along with attending school and working with us part time, Joanna also volunteers weekly at the Richmond Animal League. She has a deep compassion for animals that shows through in her care of and devotion to all our patients. She would like to pursue a degree from George Mason University in Forensic Science in the future, but for now she engages herself in attending to all the needs of our furry friends.
Shanna is our “dog whisperer” she has a special way with all of our boarders. She treats every patient that steps through our doors as if it were her own.
For the past 3 years Shanna always comes to work with an enthusiastic attitude and is constantly cleaning, taking boarders on long walks in the field and giving them lots of love, hugs, and kisses. Shanna truly puts her whole heart into her work.. Shanna resides in Chesterfield with her three dogs Sadie the Pomeranian, Petie a Pomeranian/mix, and her newest addition Charlotte the wrinkly Bloodhound!
