VETERINARY ASSISTANTS:

Anya has been part of the Deer Run family for five years. Her managerial style is creative and motivating for the rest of the staff!  She received a Bachelor’s of Science Degree from Virginia Tech in 2002, with a major in Wildlife Science and a minor in Biology. Her favorite part of the job is phlebotomy and working in the lab, but a good cuddle with a furry friend can never be passed up, especially a Boxer!  Anya’s devotion shows true with her twice daily commute from Powhatan; where she lives with her loving husband John, two children Colton and Rilynn, Havoc the husky, and Logan Thomas the infamous three legged boxer.

Ashley has had a long history in the veterinary field, volunteering in her first clinic at an early age of twelve.  Since then she has gained incredible knowledge and experience and is truly an asset to us at Deer Run.  Along with her devotion to animal welfare, she also emphatically supports entrepreneurialism.  Ashley has started her own house cleaning business, as well as a recycling company along with her husband Jason.  They reside in Moseley on their 15 acre farm along with 7 goats, countless chickens, 6 quail, four dogs (Harley, Benelli, Annie, and goat guard dog Doofy)and 6 cats (Oliver, Huck, Jelly Bean, Patches, Callie, and Thomas).  They recently welcomed their new daughter Lyric into their lives.
Michelle is a bold new personality, bringing with her energy and excitement!  She recently joined our family in October 2008.  Michelle’s perseverance has kept her in the veterinary field for 13 years.  Her seniority in the field and experience is an appreciated addition to our team.  Her love for four legged animals even extends into the equine realm.  Michelle is an avid equestrian showing for several years on the USDF-circuit.  She is the loving mother of daughter Danika, and son Michael; along with 4 dogs (Saphira, Zero, Winston, and Gem), 3 cats (Meio, Mosby, and Mozzi), and a warmblood named Cameo.

Becky is the resident mom!  If you need a bowl of soup or a band-aid, Becky is the one you can count on!  Her warm heart and compassion for all things great and small makes her a beloved member of our team.  She resides in Deer Run, a stones throw from the clinic, along with her husband Gene, daughter Emma, son Hayden, her mother Dottie, 3 cats (Piper, Eva, and Bart) and new furry canine addition Miss Rosebud!  Becky has been involved in all aspects of the medical field for many years, but has found a comfort and a home here at Deer Run.

Allison is a breath of fresh air, joining our family about 6 months ago. Allison is a fast learner and confident in her work. She is always eager to learn and help whenever she can. She recently graduated from Cosby High School and is currently attending John Tyler Community College. She plans on transferring to Virginia Tech next summer with hopes of pursuing a degree in marine biology.

Joanna recently joined our staff in September 2008.  She is currently completing her senior year at Cosby High School.  Along with attending school and working with us part time, Joanna also volunteers weekly at the Richmond Animal League.  She has a deep compassion for animals that shows through in her care of and devotion to all our patients.  She would like to pursue a degree from George Mason University in Forensic Science in the future, but for now she engages herself in attending to all the needs of our furry friends.
